About the Organization
Mission Statement:
Good Earth Resilience Project will generate funds to provide educational supplies, live events, and digital resources to be utilized by communities along the US gulf coast for the purpose of hurricane preparation and recovery efforts. We will contribute as much high impact educational resources as possible to the US gulf coast to build hurricane resilience in local communities.
Values:
At GERP, we value honesty, generosity, gratitude, kindness, and compassion. We work directly with communities to build knowledge and skills because we feel that education is a powerful tool in overall quality of life. We believe acts of altruism should be cherished, and those who for good for others in time of need are heroes.
How we got started:
Lindsey and Corey graduated from Nicholls State University in 2015 with undergraduate degrees in business administration. After graduating, we felt a greater purpose in life. We decided we wanted to do our part make a difference in peoples lives which led us to careers in education. After the devastation of Hurricane Ida 2021, Corey identified a gap between science education and the ability of communities to adapt to change. By connecting the right people, resources, and ideas, hurricane resilience in our community will be achievable. While establishing this nonprofit organization, we hope to provide resources that will make it easier for our community to bounce back from this natural disaster and then help other communities do the same.
